To Do List;

So I decided that by the start of next winter, I will have invested in chunky sweaters, lengthy chiffon pleated skirts, lots & lots of oxfords! Time for a style change, I'm feeling inspired with somewhere between 50s and 90s fashion. Thinking about taking up knitting also, I've been slacking on my sewing projects for a long while now. Time to get back into the hobby. It'll do.

Something Meaningful

Some days, I have the habit of lecturing. On a special day, I'd like to rant. Maybe there's no difference. But that was never my purpose for starting this blog, however, today is a little different. Just moments ago, I had remembered the first time reading Tuesdays With Morrie, which you may or may not have read. It was one of those "required to read" English class books that most us of don't actually want to read. Tuesdays With Morrie was different. From the very start of the first chapter, I became completely immersed. Morrie inspires us all that even when your life is about to end, it only means that it's just the start. It's like that moment in our life when we wake up from death and realize we're still alive. It's also that moment that we learn to be thankful for, our whole life. Or when you come upon a room with 40 other people and in your mind, you believe that you're having the worst day ever. However, there may be 10 other people in the same room as you, going through tougher situations. But we would never know... maybe because some of us are really good at hiding our emotions. Or some us have different aspects of life. Some prefer to look at tough situations in a positive light. Some see black as white. Some see gray as black. & that is why the most of us can not seem to get through the day. No matter how much we mourn over the big and little things that don't matter, it will only get worse. No one ever said it was easy to be positive. I won't lie, it's going to be hard. But we want to be stronger and happier, then it's something we must do, for us. For ourselves.

The Audiovisual

pg 18

“Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do”; “Accept the past as past without denying it or discarding it”; “Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others”; “Don’t assume that it’s too late to get involved.”
pg 21

“There are some mornings when I cry and cry and mourn for myself. Some mornings, I’m so angry and bitter. But it doesn’t last too long. Then I get up and say, ‘I want to live . . .’”

Taking Attendance

pg 43

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because they’re chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”

Gorgeous "Black Swan" Fanart

Incredible film. Go see it if you already haven't. There are some quite disturbing scenes, but it is a psychological thriller after all.

Beauty Assessments

So I found this little diagram which shows how much a year women would spend on beauty assessments. An unnecessary and ridiculous amount of cash, which is completely useless to be spending so much on anyway. Women spend $800 and over on just hands and feet only because they would rather not do the work themselves. Imagine how much you could have left in your wallet without having to pay that extra $300 in tips. Yes, that is how much we actually spend in tips. You could be having all that money to yourself just by investing in your own nail care/beauty products and do your own manicures/pedicares and still have that extra $500 in your wallet.

Electric Manicure Nail Drill Machine: Anywhere from $30-$80
Clear/french/white Tips: $1-$3 @ Sally's Beauty Supplies
Top&Base Coat Polisher: $6
UV Gel Machines: Anywhere from $10-$70
Callus Remover: $3-$4 @ Sally's Beauty Supplies

You can get all these products for yourself for under $130 exactly. Which means you could save up to around $670 a year!

Women spend $7400 in a year for the most unreasonable things. Cut back on some of the unnecessary spending such as gym membership and hair styling products.

Hiking: Priceless
Running/Jogging: Priceless + you get fresh air and a beautiful view of nature
@ home yoga: Priceless + you won't have to listen to the yoga instructor's non tastefulness music.

Unless you want all your hair to fall out, cut back on hair products. Your hair is beautiful the way it is naturally.

In other notes, I am thinking about getting this tattoo, but in red, black and white. It's a Ka-Riu dragon I believe. Japanese dragons represents, luck, wealth, freedom and strength. Planning on getting it sometime in February or sometime before prom!

Kiss Goodbye to 2010,

& say hello to what's in store for 2011! Feels refreshing to start off the new year with no plans of making resolutions to keep to. Besides, we never actually do them anyways ;) Alright alright, so I might have made some resolutions, which I may actually go through with! Here is the list, oh and of course, I also want to know your resolutions!

Lets admit it, we never stick to those "losing weight" resolutions. In fact, we put on more weight from new years to Christmas then we do from Thanksgiving to New Years. Instead of putting ourselves through the pain of diet, which never really works, start exercising! Get a gym membership, do morning or late afternoon joggs. Even if your schedule's tight, squeeze it in there somehow.
Do more volunteer and help people. On any given night, anywhere fro 700,000 to 2 million people are homeless.  Visit nursing homes, the folks there rarely have family or friends to visit. Bring them something. Volunteer at a local hospital. Hospitals are ALWAYS busy and there usually are not enough helpers. There have plenty of different volunteer programs. I am speaking from experience. Sign up for a Big Sister/Big Brother program. Spend time with a child, teach them to read, play or sport and connect with them. Become a member of some of the biggest humanitarian organization (UNICEF) or (Red Cross). Clean up at a park, a mountain, a community. Give blood this year. Drink responsibly, drive safely & slow down.
